We offer a free 60 Night Comfort Trial on all our mattresses because we recognise that buying a mattress online can be challenging. We want to work with you to help you get the best night’s sleep possible.
You can experience peace of mind with our complimentary Comfort Trial and test your mattress for 60 nights. And if it doesn’t meet your expectations, we’ll exchange it for you, hassle-free.
What is a mattress comfort trial?
A mattress comfort trial lets you test your mattress and exchange it if it doesn’t feel right for you.
At Mattress Online, our free 60 Night Comfort Trial lets you try any mattress for up to 60 nights.
Some mattresses offer a free 100 Night Comfort Trial, which operates the same way but gives you up to 100 nights to decide if the mattress suits your needs.
You can find the comfort trial period of a mattress below the product images on a product page, or next to the product image on a category page:
How does your comfort trial work?
When you purchase any mattress from our website, you will automatically qualify for a comfort trial.
Here’s how it works:
Delivery and activation - Your 60 night or 100 night comfort trial will be activated the moment your new mattress is delivered to your home.
Adjustment period - We require that you sleep on your new mattress for a minimum of 30 nights before arranging a mattress exchange. This period allows your body to adjust to the new mattress and gives the mattress fillings time to settle and adapt to your sleeping position and body shape. It’s normal for this adjustment process to take a few weeks.
Mattress exchange - If after 30 nights your mattress still isn’t right for you, simply get in touch to arrange a mattress exchange before your comfort trial ends.
Replacement mattress delivery and collection - Our Customer Service team will arrange a convenient time to deliver your replacement mattress and will collect your originally purchased mattress at the same time.
To be eligible for a mattress exchange, you must:
Use a mattress protector to protect the mattress from any accidents or pillows
Sleep on it for a minimum of 30 nights as a new mattress can take some getting used to
Not misuse or damage your mattress (this includes accidental damage)
If you do not meet the above criteria, we will not be able to arrange a mattress exchange for you.
How does the mattress exchange work?
If you would like to exchange your current mattress, you need to:
Choose a replacement mattress from the Mattress Online website.
Notify our Customer Service team that you would like to arrange an exchange before the end of your trial period.
By following these steps, we can ensure a smooth exchange process and have you sleeping on your perfect mattress in no time.
Choosing a replacement mattress
You can choose any mattress of the same size from the Mattress Online website as a replacement. We recommend that you exchange your mattress for something else within the same brand, wherever possible. This helps ensure consistent quality and comfort between your originally purchased mattress and your replacement mattress.
Pricing details for mattress exchanges
If you choose a more expensive mattress:
You will need to pay the difference in cost between your original and replacement mattress
Payment for the difference in price must be made by credit or debit card over the phone.
Please note: We cannot add the additional amount to existing payment plans (e.g., Klarna).
If you choose a cheaper mattress:
We cannot refund the difference in cost between your original and replacement mattress.
However, if the replacement mattress is up to £100 cheaper, we will give you the difference as credit to use on the Mattress Online website.
For example: If your original mattress was £500 and your replacement is £410, you'll receive £90 in site credit.
You can remove all original packaging from your mattress. However, please ensure it is clean and presentable for collection.
Simply leave the mattress near your door and our delivery team will collect it when they deliver your replacement.
What are the terms and conditions for your comfort trial?
For more details on our Comfort Trial terms and conditions, please read the below.
Mattress Online 60 and 100 Night Comfort Trial terms and conditions:
Only the original purchaser can invoke the Comfort Trial - you will also need proof of purchase.
Your mattress is limited to one exchange per mattress ordered.
The Comfort Trial applies only to standalone mattresses, not mattresses included with folding beds or sofa beds as these mattresses are considered part of the bed mechanism and not standalone products.
The Comfort Trial only applies to mattresses that remain within the UK.
An alternative mattress model of the same size must be chosen in the exchange.
If the replacement mattress you’ve chosen is more expensive than your originally purchased mattress, we will ask you to pay the difference in price. Please note that you would be required to pay any difference by credit or debit card over the phone; we would be unable to apply the additional amount to any payment plan you might have in place (e.g. Klarna).
If the replacement mattress you’ve chosen is cheaper than the mattress you originally purchased, we cannot refund the difference.
If the replacement mattress you’ve chosen is similar in cost to your original purchased mattress but slightly cheaper - up to £100 cheaper - we will give you the difference in credit to spend on the site. For example, if you originally purchased a £500 mattress and swapped it for a £410 mattress, you will be given £90 credit to use on the site. If the difference in price is greater than £100, you will not have the opportunity to receive either credit or a refund.
You will not be eligible for the 60 or 100 Night Comfort Trial if you have:
Misused or damaged your mattress (including accidental damage)
Repaired or altered your mattress in any way
Neglected to keep it clean, or it shows wear and tear
It’s your responsibility to get in touch with us to claim your Comfort Trial and arrange the exchange.
We will collect your old mattress and deliver your new mattress as soon as possible, but this will depend on whether the replacement mattress you have chosen is in stock.
If your replacement mattress is in stock, our Customer Service team will work with you to choose a delivery date that works best for you
If your replacement mattress is not in stock, our delivery team will need to wait for it to come back into stock before we can deliver it to you. Once we know when the stock will arrive, our Customer Service team will be in touch with you to arrange a delivery date.
Do beds and bedding come with a comfort trial?
Currently, we only offer our 60 or 100 Night Comfort Trial on our mattresses. This is something that we are actively looking to extend to all Mattress Online products in the near future.
What happens to mattresses that are returned in a comfort exchange?
At these recycling centres, every mattress component is stripped down and recycled. The materials are then upcycled into new products, such as brand-new mattresses or dog and horse blankets.
These processes ensure that we handle our exchanged mattresses responsibly, ethically and sustainably to try and reduce the amount of mattresses that end up in landfill.
