We think everyone should get a great night’s sleep, including our pets!

As many of us are staying home and spending more time with our furry friends, you might have noticed how much your pet sleeps. On average, dogs and cats sleep for 12-15 hours a day, which is a lot of time to lie in bed.

With help from the experts at Pets&Pods, we’ve priced up the craziest celebrity pet beds. We found that eight celebrities spent a massive £269,314 on their animal’s sleeping arrangements.

That’s the same price as:

  • 337 cockapoos or
  • 399 labradors or
  • 598 border collies

See our breakdown of the craziest celeb pet beds and how much they cost!

1. Paris Hilton – £259,000

Paris Hilton doesn’t just have beds for her reported eight dogs – she built them an entire house, complete with a balcony, chandelier, air con and designer furniture.

The Hilton heiress is said to have spent £259,000 on the two-story Doggy Mansion, which is the same price as 370 chihuahuas  – that’s even more than the average UK house price!

But it’s obviously worth it for Paris Hilton’s beloved pooches, including teacup Pomeranian, Princess Paris Jr. and micro chihuahua, Diamond Baby.

2. The Beckhams – £4,600

David and Victoria Beckham’s cocker spaniel, Olive, is used to the celeb lifestyle. She’s even been on the cover of Vogue alongside her famous family. So, it’s no surprise that the Beckhams’ pet bed has a seriously high price tag.

Olive sleeps in a £4,600 designer Louis Vuitton blanket – you could buy seven cocker spaniels for that price!

3. Lady Gaga – £2,200

Lady Gaga’s French bulldog, Miss Asia, is famous in her own right, with 227,000 Instagram followers. The actress and singer’s pampered pup has been spotted with her own Versace bed, complete with a jewelled crown on the headboard.

Pets&Pods estimates the bed itself costs £300 for the top-notch workmanship and the Versace pillow and blanket are worth £1,900. The total price for this designer pet bed is a huge £2,200 – enough to buy two Frenchies of your own!

4. Barack Obama – £1,000

Even Presidents are splashing out on pet beds! Former President Barack Obama’s Portuguese water dog, Bo Obama, has his own miniature home to sleep in. Extra features include a tablet, speakers and a cooling fan for this political pooch. It’s eco-friendly too, with solar panels to power the equipment.

Our pet expert predicts it would cost around £1,000 to build Bo’s bed, the same price as buying one of these rare pedigree pups.

5. Amanda Seyfried – £909

Amanda Seyfried loves her Australian shepherd, Finn, so much that she brings him onto film sets! Finn has been pictured cosying up on what appears to be a giant, human-sized bean bag. It’s so big it fits both Finn and his celeb owner. In fact, Amanda Seyfried has admitted she sleeps beside her furry pal.

Our pet professional says this massive pet bed would be completely priceless for man’s best friend. Similar pillows cost an incredible £909, which is enough to feed an Australian shepherd for 18 months!

6. Karl Lagerfeld – £600

Renowned as the cutting-edge creative director for Chanel, the late Karl Lagerfeld was fashion-forward in all parts of his life – even with his pets. His famous Birman cat Choupette, who is said to be the heir to the Lagerfeld fortune, has her own stylish egg chair to snooze in.

As you can expect, a high-fashion feline would only have the best. Our pet specialist says this miniature version of an Eero Saarinen offers a great deal of comfort and safety for a cat. But it would cost an enormous £600, the same price buying as your own Birman cat!

7. Taraji P. Henson – £600

Taraji P. Henson’s much-loved French bulldog, K-Ball, is no stranger to the life of luxury – this pup has been papped staying in a luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel. Here, celebs can choose the ‘Pawfect Package’, where their furry friend can sleep on a designer pet bed crafted using the softest Shetland wool.

The ‘Pawfect Package’ starts at a huge £600 a night, which is the same amount as looking after a Frenchie at home for 5 months!

8. Mrs Hinch – £405

Cleaning superstar Mrs Hinch’s cocker spaniel Henry has an entire bedroom to himself in her Essex home. The pampered pooch sleeps in a white human-sized bed, complete with fresh bedding, which Mrs Hinch makes every morning. Henry even has his name spelled out in the wall in white letters.

We researched a similar setup and found Henry’s bed alone would cost around £405, which is enough to feed a cocker spaniel for 10 months!

Expert advice for finding the perfect pet bed

If you’re looking for the perfect animal bed, you don’t need to spend like a celebrity. Our expert gave us top tips on buying or building a comfy bed for your pet. Here’s their advice:

“The perfect pet bed is a very individual thing. You must take into account a lot of factors when buying or building one.

It would be easier if you could talk to your pet and ask what’s best for them, but we can only observe and make notes what makes them feel relaxed and comfortable. That pillow might look nice to you but that’s not what your cat or dog wants.

Dogs are easier to ‘work’ with, however, cats have more independent minds, so there’s a lot of guessing and research goes on.

All beds must have a solid design and be easily maintained with interchangeable covers and spare parts.”

We might not have thousand-pound pet beds, but how many of us are guilty of letting our furry friend sleep beside us? Find out as we explore the great debate of Pets in the Bed.
