What is an ottoman bed?

Using a hydraulic lifting system, the base of an ottoman bed frame lifts so the space underneath the bed can be used for storage. This type of bed typically offers more storage space than beds with drawers for example, as it uses the whole space under the bed.

There are many types of ottoman bed frames. Some open from the foot end while others open from the side. There’s also the option of half-lift ottoman beds, where only the lower half of the bedis used for storage. Some ottoman beds even feature drawers alongside the ottoman opening.

Are ottoman bed frames easy to lift?

Many people worry that the bed frame will be too heavy for them to lift. However, the hydraulic lifts take the weight of the frame and mattress, meaning it feels much lighter to lift than you may initially think.

Once open, the hydraulics will keep the bed frame lifted until you choose to lower it. This means you can access your storage with both hands, without the risk of it falling on you.

Do ottoman beds have a solid base?

Most ottoman bed frames have a solid boarded storage unit beneath. It is only the frame that holds the mattress that lifts up; the base of the bed will remain in position when in use.

What size ottoman beds are available?

You can choose from single, double, king size, or superking size ottoman bed frames. Since they combine storage within the bed frame, some people find they no longer need to have a separate chest of drawers or storage unit.
